The origins of the Fuji Educational Corporation trace back to Bishop Wenzeslaus Kinold, the first bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sapporo. Deeply convinced that "the future of Hokkaido lies in women's education," he requested his homeland of Germany to send individuals who could truly advance the cause of women's education. In response, three nuns from the Franciscan Sisters of the Martyr St. George came to Hokkaido.
Fuji Women’s University inherits this founding spirit. Grounded in a Christian worldview and understanding of humanity, the university is committed to fostering women of intellectual depth and rich character, and who are capable of living lives of love and service to the broader community.
